The transition may have been a little "hectic," according to Jon Howell, owner of The Record Guys, but the exclusive record store is already settling in to their brand new location.

"We had a short time to move, but when we got the opportunity to be in a bigger building, especially on the corner, we wanted to get in here," explains Howell.

But a bigger store wasn't the only bonus to the new location off South Leggett Drive. Howell has plans to turn the old gas station into a venue for live music.

"There's not enough free stuff to do in this town," says Howell, "there's not enough live music. We've got Mezamiz around the corner that does some of the same kind of stuff, and they've been a real encouragement to us and we want to build off of that."

For Howell, the store is more than just a place to sell records, it's an experience he wants people to come and take part in.

"We're not just some place where you can come buy this kind of music," Howell explains. "We are some place where you can come and meet people like you that are interested in this kind of thing."

For Howell, listening to records is a one of a kind experience, that doesn't compare to "pressing a button on your Ipod."

"It's something that you can feel from everybody that has used that record before you, everyone that's listened to it before you" he says, "it's a full experience."

The Record Guy's first chance to see his dreams of expansion come to life will be in a few weeks, to celebrate National Record Store Day. Howell hopes to have live music and to get his hands on exclusive records released for that day only.
