Wednesday was an exciting day for those associated with Diamondback Golf Club.

PGA.com released an article ranking the top 9 public golf courses in The Lone Star State, and Diamondback not only made the cut, but ranks number two on the list.

The course was built in 1971 and designed by former PGA golfer Charles Coody.

The former Master's Champion was pleased to hear the news.

"For a golf course that's 150 miles from most any large city, and here in West Texas, I consider it a real compliment," Coody says. "It's a golf course that a lot of people say, 'well it's a little hard,' well it's only hard if you knock it off of the fairway, and that's as a golf course should be."

The list was compiled by PGA.com's Facebook friends, of which they have almost 150,000.
