After months of frustration over stolen electricity, an Abilene business hopes it has finally come to an end.
Abilene Police have arrested the man they say is responsible for re-routing the business's electric for his personal use.

An Abilene storage business has been dealing with a unique crime for several months.

"He found his way of re-routing the electricity from a protected unit for his personal use," Said Abilene Police Department's public Information Officer George Spindler.

Abilene police arrested 32 year-old Cory Herring after Frenchman's Creek Self Storage alerted police.

The owners, who declined to be on camera for fear of retaliation, say herring had been doing this for several months.

Other tenants saw Herring at his storage unit for long periods of time, working on cars and using machines.
The business says this is a fire hazard, and not allowed. Stealing electricity is a felony offense.

"Because we're dealing with a power source a utility that's regulated and the electricity was rerouted for the suspects personal use. That's why it falls under this statute," Said Spindler.

After warning the man several times and asking him to stop, the business put a lock box on their main electric unit.
Soon after, they would find it had been kicked off and re-routed again.
That, they say, would be the last time.

"There was video documentation that proved to be very helpful in the evidence," Said Spindler.

The business says they hope nothing like this happens to them again.
Although it may not happen often, police say they hope people understand the seriousness of this crime.

this is a ridiculous charge!! I know for a fact that he never sto;e electricity. He was never once told to stop using the outlet. The things that they are saying are NOT fact! You people should do your homework before you start reporting false statements
