Hollywood has taken over Snyder.

Tanner Beard grew up in the city and took his western roots to the big screen for his debut as a director and writer of the film the Legend of Hell's Gate.

"It's kind of overwhelming, it's like the greatest homecoming you could ever ask for," said Beard.

The 27 year old enlisted a group of actors from Snyder and around the Lone Star State, including Buck Taylor who starred in Cowboys and Aliens and Jenna Dewan from Step Up.

"I'm extremely proud to be in it with a lot of really good actors," said Taylor, "It's a great story, it's a chase, a classic western chase and it has to do with our frontier Texas."

The movie is based on historical events that took place in Snyder following a pair of three outlaws in 1870s Texas.

Beard came back to his hometown for a red carpet debut the film among family and friends.
Snyder residents couldn't be prouder.

"You see a lot of this history come alive," said Snyder resident Zane Sterling, "A lot of west Texas has some great history and I love to see it brought out, especially in the form of a movie to share with other people."

Beard says its just the beginning of many more films that echo his love for the West.

"I love Texas, I love Snyder this is a movie for Texans, by Texans and I couldn't be happier," he said.

The Indie film will next debut at the Atlanta Film Festival.  It will be showcased around nine movie theaters in Texas and will be available on DVD in May.
