Donations were gathered Saturday (3/31) to help local residents with a certain kind of impairment.

Members of the Abilene Founders Lions Club were outside of United Supermarket collecting donations for the Tissue and Eye Bank.

"White Cane" day is an annual donation collection day to help those visually impaired and needing assistance.

In addition to monetary donations, the club members also accepted eyeglasses donations for school children who need them in Abilene.

Member, Gordy Tatro said, "We're very fortunate Abilene has a lot of resources, not only Lions Club but we have a lot of other organizations in the city, to help out the citizens."
