'National Walking Day' Coming Wednesday
By: News Release
Updated: April 2, 2012
Research has shown that the benefits of walking and moderate physical activity for as little as 30 minutes each day can help reduce the risk of heart disease.
The American Heart Association is excited to announce the "Billion Calorie Count-UP" - a multi-year, nationwide challenge to collectively burn 1 billion calories by 2020. Americans can get involved and contribute their calories by signing up to participate in one of their local Heart Walks at www.heart.org/myheartmylife.
Key milestone dates, such as National Walking Day and National Eating Healthy Day on November 7, will be used to report out the total number of calories collected at the Heart Walks across the country on the "Big Ticker" counter for the "Billion Calorie Count-UP."
Please join us on Wednesday, April 4 in the parking lot of Blue Cross Blue Shield at 4002 E Loop 322, from 12-1 p.m.
