"Taz" Happy, Healthy Two Months After Being Adopted

By: Jessica Reyes
Updated: April 2, 2012
Taz the puppy has come a long way since she first came to the Key City Veterinary Clinic.

She's spent the last two months with her new owner, Maegan Jennings. Jennings works at the clinic and took care of Taz after police found her in a dumpster in January with 11 stab wounds.

"She's been doing really good, pretty much just doing the adjusting process. Getting used to different people, getting used to Taylor, my son, getting used to family members," Jennings said.

The veterinarian at Key City originally wasn't sure if Taz would make it. However, after two weeks at the clinic, Jennings was selected to take her home.

"I'm very thankful, very thankful. Even if I wouldn't have gotten her, I would have been thankful she survived. But it just makes it more special that I got her," Jennings said.

Jennings said despite everything her dog has been through, her personality hasn't changed.

"She doesn't act...You couldn't tell that she got stabbed. You can't tell," she said.

Taz's previous owner, Larry Dollins, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for a cruelty to animals charge and six years in prison on a motion to revoke probation for a past possession charge.
