ACU's Mosley Is LSC Pitcher of the Week

By: Lance Fleming, ACU Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations
Updated: April 3, 2012
ABILENE - Abilene Christian sophomore Peyton Mosley Tuesday was selected by the Lone Star Conference as its Pitcher of the Week for a second time this season.

Mosley previously won the award on Feb. 23, and is one of three Wildcats to receive a conference player of the week citation in 2012 along with junior pitcher Caitlyn Crain and junior outfielder Keanna Winkfield.

A native of Coppell, Texas, Mosley was recognized by the conference office for her efforts last weekend in two games against No. 19 West Texas A&M. Mosley, a right-handed pitcher, went 2-0 against the Lady Buffs at home and allowed just one run on seven hits through 14.0 innings of work.

Mosley surrendered just four hits during last Friday's 6-1 victory, and then shut West Texas out Saturday on three hits. Her shutout was her third of the season and lowered her season earned-run average to 1.92.

Additionally, Mosley's seven strikeouts in game one of the series served as a season high, and the three hits she allowed in game three equaled a season low for a start of 4.0 or more innings. She struck out six in the series finale to give ACU its first sweep over a conference opponent in 2012.

Through her two complete game performances, only twice did Mosley allow two or more runners to reach base in a single inning.

The Wildcats return action later this week for a three-game series at Cameron. Games begin Thursday at 2 p.m. and Friday at 1 p.m.
