The Abilene Ruff Riders are 1-0 heading into their open date.

The Ruff Riders beat Corpus Christi in overtime on Saturday to start the season. They built a big lead in the 1st half, but the Ruff Riders blew that lead in the 2nd half before getting things turned around in the overtime.

It wasn't a perfect performance by any stretch, but the defense played well enough. It's good to get a victory.

Brannen said, "We didn't turn the ball over, and it games like that, you should win ballgame when you win the turnover battle.  We just won it a little closer than I would've liked to, but our defense bailed us out a lot. We just have to be more opportunistic on offense and take advantage of those type of situations when we get the ball back." He added, "That's going to go a long way for us. Now, we have a bye week to recoup and relax a little bit, and kind of tweek those minor things that we need to fix before we see Corpus again in the Bounty Bowl in Snyder."

The Ruff Riders match up with Corpus Christi is called the Bounty Bowl and will be played on April 14th. The game starts at 7 at the Scurry Co. Coliseum.
