Investigation Underway into Mistaken Cremation of Abilene Man

By: Katie Thompson
Updated: April 5, 2012
An investigation is underway into the mistaken cremation of an Abilene man.

The body of Ronnie Gibson Jr., who was found Saturday morning on the Hardin-Simmons campus, was cremated yesterday by Abilene Professional Services.

Gibson's family says they never authorized a cremation, and had scheduled a visitation service for today.

Abilene Professional Services, who has held Gibson since the discovery, says the cremation was a mistake.

They are now being represented by the Phil Manning law firm out of Lubbock.

A memorial service for Gibson has been scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 at the Abilene Funeral Home.
