"Some people say why is this coming to Abilene? And what you have to understand is the parallel world, as I create it, has a momentum of its own," says Eames Demetrios, an artist who has created a global work of 3D storytelling.
Demetrios says, "What im trying to do is to create a way for people to have that experience in a real place that sort of unmoors them from reality for just a moment."
He says its like reading a novel, with every page in a different location. He's traveled around the real world installing bronze plaques in historic sites that honor events from a fictional world. Pieces of history that he's created in his mind. Now one of those plaques will be installed in Abilene.
"It's definitely something I hadn't heard of before and to learn about it is something else but its definitely something I want people to engage in,"nsays Emerald Cardenas, Marketing Director of The Grace Museum.
So, what is the purpose of the project?
Demetrios says, "Isn't it kind of fun to sort of stop thinking that everything has to be inevitable and think about how we can look at the world fresh?"
The story that takes place in Abilene is called the 'Museum of the Bench' about a man who felt free when he sat on a bench. This man collected benches, built a museum to house them, then built realistic dioramas to place the bench in its natural surroundings. Just one piece of the Kcymaerxthaere puzzle.
"My intention isnt to take away from the local history at all. In fact, my intention is to say here's a whole way at looking at the landscape," says Demetrios.
A scavenger hunt to kick off the installation of the plaque will take place next Thursday. To find out more information and how you can get involved, click here.
