ACU Track & Field: Jones Records Two Big PRs At Angelo State Meet

Jones, who is already a NCAA Outdoor Championship qualifier in both the shot put and discus, began his day at the LeGrand Sports Complex by tossing the shot 62 feet, 4.5 inches and then launched the discus 200 feet, 3 inches. Jones' effort in the discus was his first as a Wildcat to measure over 200 feet and is believed to be the third best in ACU history.
Other notable personal records from Thursday included Shalaina Lakey in the hammer throw of (153-9), Tara Riley in the discus (147-6), and Cassie Brooks in the shot put (40-4). Riley's performance was better than her previous provisional throw by eight inches.
Alexis Wilder also recorded a pair of ACU career bests, registering a distance of 39-11.5 in the shot, and 130-8 in the discus.
On the men's side, Aaron Bynum registered a personal record of 176-10 in the javelin, Baptiste Kerjean won the hammer throw with a toss of 200-3, while Milo Parsons hit a PR of 170-3.
ACU's track and field teams remain in action through Saturday at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos.
