Former AHS and Baylor Grad Wins On Adams Tour

HOUMA, La. -- Former Abilene High and Baylor golfer Bill Allcorn blistered the Ellendale Country Club on Saturday, rallying from seven strokes behind the leader to win the MBP at TGMC Fakier Open on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series.

Allcorn entered Saturday's final round at 1-under-par 143 and tied for 13th place after posting rounds of 71-72 on Friday's opening day.  He trailed leader Jeff Rein (68-68--136) by seven strokes going into Saturday's final round.

But Allcorn ripped up the course Saturday, firing a closing round 63, the best score on the course since current PGA Tour pro Bubba Watson shot a 63 en route to winning this same tournament in 2005.

Allcorn got his day started with a birdie on the first hole, but really got unleashed with he aced the par-3, 168-yard fourth hole.  He then finished the front nine with an eagle on No. 7, a birdie on No. 8 and a par on the ninth to finish the front at 6-under-par 30.

Allcorn then parred the first five holes of the back nine, but then went birdie, birdie par, birdie to close out his round with a 9-under-par 63.

Allcorn - who won $10,000 for his efforts and moved into second place on the Adams Tour money list - topped a group of four players who finished one shot back at 9-under-par.  That group included first-day leader Rein and Allcorn's former Baylor teammate, Jeremy Alcorn of Brownwood.
