APD: Cop Sees Drunken Man Striking Girlfriend

On Sunday evening at approximately 8:55, Officer Andrew Valdez and other officers were dispatched to a disturbance call at a residence in the 1700 block of North Sixth Street. A concerned citizen had reported an altercation between two people. Officer Jimmy Woods assisted on the call and contacted a male subject walking away from the vicinity of the residence. Officer Valdez's investigation revealed that the male subject had contacted a female at her residence and that a protective order against the subject was in effect for the female resident. The male subject was arrested for violation of protective order.
Last night at approximately midnight, Officer Brandon Scott was dispatched to a disturbance call at a business in the 200 block of North Judge Ely Boulevard. Officer Scott arrived on scene and learned that a male suspect was allegedly assaulting a female nearby. As soon as Officer Scott saw the suspect, he observed the suspect strike the victim and he immediately arrested the suspect. He also learned that the victim and suspect were in a dating relationship and that the suspect appeared heavily intoxicated. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had a felony warrant for possession of cocaine. The suspect was arrested for his warrant, assault family violence, and for public intoxication.
