AISD Board to Discuss Budget Process

Updated: April 9, 2012
Tonight the board of trustees for Abilene Independent School District will consider approval of lighting and electrical service upgrades at four schools, but the most significant item on the agenda is a non-action item.

The board will begin preliminary discussions about the budget process. There were questions last year as to what the legislature was going to do with school districts, but Superintendent Dr. Heath Burns says this year looks much better for how they will be able to distribute their finances.

"Most importantly we'll be listening to our board about what ideas they have about where we need to invest our time in creating a meaningful, good school budget," Dr. Burns says.
