For Antiques and Almost owner, B.J. Smith, collecting antiques is more than just a hobby, it's a history lesson.
"Every antique does have a story," she explains.
Smith has been collecting antiques in Abilene for 25 years, resulting in a personal collection of rare and prized items, each with it's own piece of history.
One of the biggest questions Smith gets from customers each year, is whether or not silver is a hot selling item.
"Silver sells!" Smith says. "It does not have to be sterling. It does have to be beautiful, has to be ornate, and it has to be unusual."
When it comes time to actual sell your silver pieces, Smith has her own unique way of naming her price.
"I weigh a piece of sterling silver and then determine what its value will be based not only on its weight, but on its artistic merit," explains Smith.
Smith's method greatly enhances the estimated value of each piece of sterling silver, making sure you get the most for your treasures.
