Experts Warning Pet Owners of Parasites

By: Katie Thompson
Updated: April 10, 2012
Ticks aren't the only pests threatening your household pets. Mild temperatures across the country have animal experts worried about an increase in parasite outbreaks.

They say warm temperatures slowed the reproduction of mosquitoes, but recent rainfall has them mass-producing, and fast.

The only sure way to protect your pet against heartworms is through treatment from a veterinarian.
