Snyder-area law enforcement have scheduled a way for residents to legally outrun the law for a good cause.

A 5K run/walk will be held April 21 at Towle Park to benefit Snyder Police Cpl. Darrell Campbell who was injured while on duty last year.

The top male and female runner as well as the top male and female law enforcement officer will receive $100. A five-person team event for law enforcement will have a $100 prize.

Medals will be awarded to the top three runners in the 100-yard dash, 1-mile run and to various age groups in the 5K run. T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 100 people who register.

Other activities will include live music at the pavilion and a softball game between the Scurry County Sheriff's Office and Snyder Police Department. Admission for the game will be donations which will be given to Campbell.

Hot air balloon rides, entertainment for children and food vendors also will be available. To volunteer for the event, call Chief Deputy Trey Wilson or Jeanette Pritchard at 573-3551.
