SAN ANGELO, TX. : Week Two of the Lone Star Football League showcased high scoring affairs and close finishes as three games took place during Easter weekend.  The Laredo Rattlesnakes improved to 2-0 on the young season by defeating the Amarillo Venom in an offensive shoot-out, 63-60 on Friday, April 6.  The Houston Stallions kicked off their 2012 LSFL campaign with a 67-23 win over the West Texas Roughnecks on Saturday, April 7, and the Rio Grande Valley Magic evened their record at 1-1 by holding on to defeat the Corpus Christi Hammerheads, 74-67 on Monday, April 9.

Laredo Rattlesnakes  63  Amarillo Venom  60  Friday, April 6

In a back and forth scoring affair on Friday, April 6, the Laredo Rattlesnakes remained atop the LSFL standings at 2-0 as they held on to defeat the Amarillo Venom in a wild shoot-out at the Laredo Energy Arena, 63-60.  The Venom struck first in the ball game, but it was Rattlesnakes QB Matt Jeffers who recorded the final score to help capture the win for Laredo.

It was a big offensive night for both teams as Amarillo QB Ken Johnson, Jr. completed 22 of 31 passes for 318 yards and five touchdown passes but was credited with three lost fumbles.  Venom wide out Anthony Clark recorded 11 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns as Katrel Larkins caught five passes for 86 yards and three touchdowns.

Laredo QB Matt Jeffers compiled a big night for the Rattlesnakes completing 24 of 37 passes for 342 yards and seven touchdowns, including the game-winning rushing touchdown.  Laredo wide receiver Darnell Williams recorded 16 catches for 217 yards and four touchdowns.  Laredo will travel to the Permian Basin to face the West Texas Roughnecks on Saturday, April 14 as the Amarillo Venom (1-1) will travel to Abilene to face the Ruff Riders following a bye week on Saturday, April 21.

Houston Stallions  67  West Texas Roughnecks  23  Saturday, April 7

The Houston Stallions couldn't have asked for a better start to their 2012 season as they defeated the West Texas Roughnecks, 67-23 on Saturday, April 7.  The Stallions offensive unit produced touchdowns on every drive during the ball game with QB Robert Kent leading the way.  Stallions' players Kenyada Tatum, Timon Marshall, and Damion Clark all recorded touchdowns and each scored a touchdown in the opening quarter.  The Stallions defensive unit forced three turnovers and added two sacks on the night.

Houston wide receiver L.A. Reed and former Houston Cougar defensive back Jerrian James added interceptions as defensive linemen Rico Brooks added 1.5 sacks on the night.  Following a bye week the Houston Stallions (1-0) will travel to Laredo to face the Rattlesnakes on Sunday, April 22.  The West Texas Roughnecks (0-2) will have their home opener on Saturday, April 14 versus the Laredo Rattlesnakes.

Rio Grande Valley Magic  74  Corpus Christi Hammerheads  67  Monday, April 9

The Rio Grande Valley Magic improved to 1-1 on the season by holding on to defeat the Corpus Christi Hammerheads, 74-67 on Monday, April 9 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.  It was a back and forth contest between both teams throughout much of the first-half.  Both combined to score 55 points in the second quarter alone as Magic QB Billy Garza compiled five first-half touchdown passes and both teams accounted for back-to-back kickoff returns for touchdowns early in the second quarter.  Rio Grande Valley led at halftime, 48-41.

Corpus Christi tied the game at 48 early in the third quarter with a six-yard touchdown pass from QB John De Los Santos to wide out Nathaniel Dunn.  However, Rio Grande Valley countered with back-to-back scores which included a 26-yard fumble recovery returned for a touchdown by Marcel Douglas to make it 61-48.  The Magic recorded back-to-back touchdowns throughout the early portions of the fourth quarter to take a 74-55 lead, and two late Corpus Christi touchdowns were not enough as the Rio Grande Valley Magic hung on to get the win.  Magic QB Billy Garza completed 17 of 30 passes for 265 yards and seven touchdowns, while Hammerheads QB John De Los Santos completed 22 of 34 passes for 210 yards and five touchdowns.

The Rio Grande Valley Magic (1-1), following a bye week, will travel to Midland/Odessa to face the West Texas Roughnecks on Saturday, April 21.  The Corpus Christi Hammerheads (0-2) will host the Abilene Ruff Riders (1-0) on Saturday, April 14.
