A man riding his bike past MVP Cabinets on North 3rd saw the smoke coming form the building.

The fire quickly got thicker by the time 911 was called by someone working at the Taylor Cones Humane Society next door.

When fire crews arrived they expected to find a vacant building instead they found a manufacturing company operating.

All of the employees were out to lunch and came back to find the building on fire.

The fire department says they are heavily invested in the permitting process with the City of Abilene.

No word on what caused the fire yet but the initial reports say it was electrical. There is also no word on what kind of fines or charges the owner may be facing if any. The damage is estimated at around 60 thousand dollars
