A small group of postal workers gathered outside of Abilene's Enterprise building Thursday, united in a mission to "save America's Postal Service."

Postal employees met all over the country Thursday as part of an organized day of action to oppose Senate Bill 1789.

"If this bill passes, it's going to destroy the Postal Service and dismantle it," said Ron Eudy, an Abilene mail carrier.

According to the National Association of Letter Carriers, the bill would end Saturday and door-to-door mail delivery within two years. If the bill passes, letter carriers all over the country fear they could lose their jobs.

"We want a Postal Service here for many many years in the future," Eudy said.

The Postal Service issued a news release Wednesday saying they plan to continue working with Congress to reform and improve the Postal Service business model.
