APD: Man Consents to Car Search, Gets Busted with Cocaine

Yesterday at approximately 5:45 p.m., Officer Kevin Ohnheiser was dispatched to a shoplifter call at a business in the 1600 block of Highway 351. His investigation revealed that a loss prevention employee had contacted a female suspect who had concealed merchandise into her purse and left the store without paying for it. Approximately $66 of stolen merchandise was recovered. The suspect was arrested for theft.

Last night at approximately 11:50, Officer Alfred Dixon contacted a motorist for a traffic violation in the 700 block of North Treadaway Boulevard. During his contact, the male driver gave Officer Dixon consent to search. The male subject was found to be in possession of several rock-like substances that tested positive for cocaine. The subject was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance, to wit cocaine.

Early this morning at approximately 12:45, Officer Roger Romero contacted a motorist for a traffic violation in the 1000 block of North Treadaway Blvd. Upon his contact with the male driver, Officer Romero smelled the distinct odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. During his investigation, he discovered that the driver was attempting to get rid of the marijuana by eating it. The suspect was arrested and searched and found to also be in possession of pills for which he did not have a prescription. The suspect had a prior conviction for driving with license invalid. The male driver was arrested for felony tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance, to wit Hydrocodone; and also for driving while license invalid.
