A man was sentenced today for a 2009 hit-and-run accident that injured a 5-year-old boy.

Ernest Zamora Aguirre received 30 years in prison for assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened in August of 2009 on State Street, and although police found the vehicle involved, there wasn't enough initial evidence to determine who was driving it at the time of the incident.

Aguirre was later apprehended in the Metroplex in March 2010 after the boy's family posted nearly 5,000 fliers asking someone to come forward with information pertaining to his whereabouts.
