Sheriff's Office Warns Against Phone Scam

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office is warning citizens of an international phone scam operation in which callers are claiming to be law enforcement officers.
The Sheriff's office says law enforcement officers rarely call their suspects to threaten arrest, and will never demand a "fine" to keep an arrest from happening, so if you receive calls from someone claiming to be in law enforcement and threatening to arrest you if you don't pay the "fine," it is most likely a scam.
"I encourage anyone who receives this type of phone call to contact the police agency named by the caller, or contact my office for assistance," Sheriff Les Bruce said.
He added that no one should pay the demanded amount of money, under any circumstances. The Sheriff's Office received two calls last week, and one over the weekend, where callers claimed to be law enforcement officers.
The earlier callers demanded money for fines so the victims "wouldn't be arrested," while the third caller attempted to intimidate the victim by threatening arrest of a family member.

Wow! That's some scam right there. I'd hate to get one like that onmy home phone because I'm often at work the entire day and my wife is left at home with my two little girls.
