Snyder Trustees Set to Cancel May 12 Election

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: May 24, 2012
Snyder school trustees will take action Monday to cancel the May 12 election since the incumbents, Mike Levens and Richard Chambers, were the only candidates to file for a place on the ballot.

Trustees also will consider two items related to the Chapter 313 agreement with Invenergy approved in October 2007.

The action concerns tax credits equaling some $2.1 million to the company. Invenergy is applying for additional years of tax credits that require board approval.

This action has no affect on the district's income as the state will reimburse the district for the amount of credit given through business development guidelines.

The food service management contract for 2012-13 also will be considered for approval. The contract will begin July 12.

Trustees also will consider a request for 16 sports medicine program students to visit the Air Force Academy in Colorado May 6-9.

The request involves the use of three school vehicles and fuel costs. The participating students and money from the sports medicine activity fund will cover other expenses.

Trustees also will consider joining a purchasing co-op and hear a number of financial and other reports, including updates on construction and renovation. The board also will hold a closed session on personnel.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the boardroom of the administration building.
