111th Engineer Battalion of the Texas Army National Guard returned home to the Camp Bowie Training Facility on Monday after a one year deployment in Afghanistan.

The soldiers returned just after 11 a.m. on Monday in two charter buses with an escort by the Brown County Sheriff's Office. They were reunited with their families at Camp Bowie when they arrived.

Brownwood said farewell to the troops this time last year the day after a mobilization ceremony was held. The soldiers left Brownwood for Afghanistan on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
