Cowgirls In Seventh At ASC Golf Championship

LUFKIN, Texas - The golfers in the American Southwest Conference Championship played through rain and soggy conditions and the scores reflected it as Hardin-Simmons shot a 441 and is in seventh place after the first round of the tournament that is being played at the Crown Colony Country Club.
 
Traci Tschirhart led the Cowgirl foursome with a 103, Kacy Bartlett shot 111, Ragan Foos shot 112 and Stephanine Jones had a 115.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor leads the tournament after shooting a 340 in the first round. They have a 12 stroke lead on Schreiner and 21 strokes lead over Texas-Tyler. Four of the eight teams shot 400 or better on Monday at the par-72, 5,188-yard course.
 
Taylor O'Rear of Mary Hardin-Baylor shot an 80 to lead the medalist race.
 
The teams will play 18 holes on Tuesday.
