"Just getting as much evidence as we can to piece back together what transpired at the time of the collision," APD Sgt. Richy Waggoner said on the ongoing investigation of Sunday morning's deadly car accident.
There's very little evidence as to what exactly happened at 3:00 that morning, when a Chevy Impala with six teenagers left the roadway. Two were killed due to the injuries sustained. APD is looking into the possibility of the involvement of another vehicle, but nothing can be proven just yet.
"We don't have evidence to support that there was any type of collision prior to the Chevy Impala leaving the roadway and hitting the trees and the median," said Sgt. Waggoner.
And while few things remain certain as to why the vehicle left the road, one factor is known: speed.
"Evidence left at the scene from the roadway indicates a speed of over the posted speed limit," Sgt. Waggoner said.
APD is also looking into the possibility of drug and alcohol use prior to the accident. They have taken blood samples from the driver and three other passengers to test potential intoxication.
"Those results have been sent to the DPS lab," said Sgt. Waggoner. "It takes several weeks to get those back, so we will not know whether or not intoxication will be a contributing factor to the collision."
After the crash, police do know that the teens were taken to a nearby Allsup's. Though they did not call 911 immediately, it was clear that they knew they needed help quickly.
"Keep in mind that these are young adults. They've just had the most traumatic experience of their life. They've just been bounced around inside a vehicle. They've probably hit their head, if not once, multiple times.
"To say they should have called police right away, we can't speculate as to why they didn't. They did realize that someone was hurt and was trying to get them to medical attention as soon as they could," said Sgt. Waggoner.

I am really irritated with some of the comments posted on these articles about parents watching their kids and what were they doing at all hours of the night, it seems to me that it could have happened to any of our children no matter how VIGILANT we are. instead of being negative respect the fact that children have lost their lives and pull together as a community to help these families instead of being narrowminded and judgemental. This is why our world is the way it is because of people judging other when they do not even know the whole story behind it. You should be ashamed of yourself. Now if you want to help these famiiles there are several ways of achieving this and they would be ever so greatful if you don't then don't spread your negativity. I will remember all your names so if something should ever happen to any of you I can sit here and post ignorant stuff too. God help you all and bless you all to learn to be better people.

We passed by there a day or so ago and saw the family walking the area and we saw the tire tracks. A couple of thoughts I had because of the skid marks were maybe a blowout on the left front of the car or maybe to avoid an animal. My daughter hit a deer within a mile of that spot IIRC...Kids need to be in before 12 midnight. This is a good reason why. Condolences to the families....

17 year olds and 13 year olds don't have any business being together to start with! So sorry for the losses of life, but parents need to be more vigilant about where their children are, who they are with, and what they are doing!

Possible Causes Parnets letting there kids run all hours of the night...Should have been home and because of them some won't....
