Today is Last Day to File Taxes, Extensions

By: BigCountryHomePage.com Staff Reports
Updated: April 17, 2012
Today is tax day. If you haven't filed, the IRS will give you more time to do so, but not more time to pay.

Uncle Sam will grant you a six-month extension to file your tax forms, but you must make the request by midnight tonight.

Beware that filing for an extension doesn't spare you from paying your tax bill by tonight's deadline though.

If you fail to pay, you'll incur interest charges and fees in addition to what you already owe.

To request an extension, you must fill out IRS form 4868, and it must be postmarked by today.
