Tarleton State wins fifth straight title

TROPHY CLUB, Texas - Tarleton State held onto its first round lead en route to its fifth consecutive and sixth overall Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championship title.  The annual league event sponsored by Firestone, which features eight women's teams, was held at Trophy Club Country Club in Trophy Club, Texas.
      The TexAnns (299-298=597) shot 10-over during the final round, paced by Sharon Lau at one-over 73.  Jacqueline Lau, Katy Ward and Jessica Pickwick all added three-over 75 rounds as Tarleton pulled away from the field.
      Incarnate Word's Flower Castillo was the individual medalist.  The sophomore shot even-par 72 for the second straight day.
      Castillo, Texas A&M-Commerce's Chantry McMahan, Tarleton's J. Lau and S. Lau, and West Texas A&M's Alisa White earned all-tournament honors by virtue of placing in the top five.
      Midwestern State finished second with a final round 314 for a team total of 616.  A&M-C was third (624), while Angelo State and Cameron tied for fourth (629), followed by WTAMU (630), UIW (648) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (691).
