ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons'
men's tennis team stayed undefeated in American Southwest Conference
West Division action with a 7-2 win over McMurry on Tuesday
afternoon at McMurry.
The
Cowboys won two of three doubles matches to take an early lead. Gavin
Ybarra and Steven Stanley teamed for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles and
Tony Record and Michael
McCullough had an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
HSU
dominated the singles portion of the match. McCullough and Ybarra had
6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Erich Bein and Stanley won in
straight sets. Sean
Strehlow, who had spent the night in the emergency room last night,
gutted out a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
The
Cowboys are now 9-5 on the year and 4 -0 in ASC West action. They will
host Howard Payne on Wednesday at 4 p.m. McMurry fell to 6-10 overall
and to 3-3 in ASC
West play.
