Three time State Champion Head Coach, Sam Harrell, has made quite a name for himself in Texas High School football.

The Former Brownwood Lion was the architect of some of the most prolific offenses in Texas High School football history, while coaching all three of his sons at Ennis High School. Most notably former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell who is now backing up Aaron Rodgers for the Green Bay Packers.

But after All he has done, Sam Harrell is coming back home to Brownwood.

After Harrell made a name for himself in Texas and the Game of High School Football, he returns home to a Brownwood community of players fans and coaches who are all thrilled to have the Texas Legend back home.

Especially Head Coach Bob Shipley who feels fortunate to have Sam in the fold.

"We're just incredibly fortunate to have a guy," he said, "Who not only being a former Brownwood Lion, and a former coach under Gordon Wood, but a guy that's gone off and won three state championships and in my opinion is a pioneer of the spread offense."

"I told the kids this morning," he said when asked about how he addressed the team, "And I didn't have to explain who Sam Harrell was, they knew. And they just erupted in applause and they were just looking at each other with their jaws dropped open, like they couldn't believe that Coach Harrell was going to come and be apart of our staff."

Harrell was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2005, and although the disease may limit him physically, it won't  be able to keep him from doing what he loves.

"Sam just really liked the thought of coming and not being the head coach and not being the offensive coordinator, but just coaching the quarterbacks, which is really what his passion is."

"We never get too old to learn," Shipley said. "And I'm just really looking forward to coming in and being able to hang out with him everyday."
