ACU, STEM Try to Increase Girls' Interest in Science

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: April 18, 2012
ACU is partnering up with the Acadamy of Technology Math and Sciences to help get middle school girls more excited about science.

Stems, the Science Technology Engineer and Math Education Coalition is hosting a hands-on learning event this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ACU's Wellness Center.

Plenty of hands-on activities will be set up for the girls to get them excited about the discovery of math and science.

"We still see a lot of kids in middle school starting to lose interest and so we really wanted to give them  the chance to get in there and do some fun stuff, remember the discovery, the creativity that's involved in those," says ACU Associate Professor of Psychology Jennifer Shewmaker.

Saturday's event is already sold out, but there is a waiting list on the ACU website.

Don't worry if you can't make it, ACU and STEM hope to host this event again.
