If you are looking for a new way to spend your Sunday afternoon, you are in luck.

"An event we scheduled just to try to bring the community together," says Paul Lewis.

The Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce will be presenting 'Sunday's Best Gospel Fest.'

Lewis says, "This will be the first of what we hope will be an annual event."

If you are wondering why gospel, Lewis explains how it is a cornerstone for music.

"Gospel is a universal language, and actually all music has originated from gospel. Rock and roll, blues, everything just about you can name," says Lewis.

The event will feature special guest jazz trumpeter Byron Swann and Malaco recording artist Carolyn Traylor.

"She will be doing some single songs alone, as well as leading the mass choir," Lewis explains.

Tickets for the event will be limited at the door, but the event is open to the entire community and Lewis says he hopes to see a large crowd.

"It's just to have everyone in the community, throughout the big country that enjoys gospel music to come together to have a good time on Sunday afternoon, with song, fellowship, and praise."
