RICHARDSON, Texas - Ten members of Abilene Christian's nationally ranked tennis teams collected several major awards from the Lone Star Conference Thursday in recognition of their tremendous 2012 regular seasons.

Sophomore Hans Hach and junior Julia Mongin headlined the Wildcats' long list of honorees as each was named LSC Player of the Year for the second consecutive spring.

Additional individual award winners included Freshman of the Year Brittney Reed, Academic Player of the Year Micah Hermsdorf, and Coach of the Year Hutton Jones, who shared his men's coaching title with John Newman of Incarnate Word.

Hermsdorf, Reed, Julia Mongin, and Laura Mongin also comprised one-third of the 12-woman all-conference singles team, while on the all-conference doubles team, the ACU was represented by the Mongin sisters, and the nationally ranked duo of Hermsdorf and Hannah Kelley.

Kelley, a junior, and sophomore Emily Conrad joined Hermsdorf on the all-academic team, giving ACU the highest representation among the six conference schools. Student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and have reached sophomore status both academically and athletically to be eligible for LSC academic honors.

Hach today was honored a total of four times, as he also received spots on the all-conference singles and doubles teams, and the all-academic team. Hach's doubles partner, senior Nick Plum, also made the all-singles team along with freshman Borja Cortes. Junior Alfredo Desiati was one of five honorable mention selections.

The Wildcats return to action tomorrow for the 2012 Firestone Lone Star Conference Championship, which is taking place through Saturday at the Southlake (Texas) Tennis Center.

ACU's 16th-ranked men's team (17-8) won all three of its conference matches to claim the tournament's No. 1 seed, and will begin the defense of its conference title against fourth-seed Cameron Friday at 1:30 p.m.

The Wildcats' sixth-ranked women's team (21-3) won't play their first match as the tournament's top seed until 6:30 p.m. against the winner of Tarleton State and Midwestern State. ACU defeated every one of its 13 NCAA Division II opponents this season by a 9-0 or 8-1 margin of victory.
