Elderly Woman Hospitalized Following Afternoon Accident

An elderly woman was transported to a Brownwood hospital after an accident Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m., the woman was traveling southeast on 11th Street when she ran a stop sign at Avenue K and collided with a van traveling the opposite direction on Avenue K, according to witnesses and police on scene.

The woman's car came to a stop in the yard of a residence in the 1900 block of 11th Street.

Both drivers were sent to the hospital for evaluation of their injuries.

Both vehicles sustained damage and were not able to be driven away from the scene. 

The woman's car was impacted on the passenger door with damage to the front wheel, and the van had front-end damage.
