Big Country Ford agreed to match whatever the VFW raised during their fish fry. They raised 2,500 dollars just by serving lunch.
This fundraiser held a special place in the auxiliary as the member who tragically passed away last November.
Member with two autistic children, Everett Hollis said, "This makes a big difference because of Cassie passing away in November. Me and her have two autistic children. For the VFW to do this on Autism Awareness Month is a big deal."
"We as a post, with our ladies and men's auxiliaries have committed to every April holding a fundraiser and we always go with food because we're quite good at it," said James Masters, Senior Vice Commander.
The fundraiser did extremely well this month as they normally expect only about 1,000 dollars from these events. The money raised will go towards iPads for special needs children in the Brownwood school district.
