Softball Tournament Raises Money for Accident Victims' Families

The Abilene North Softball Association helped raise money for the families of those involved in last Sunday's accident with a weekend-long tournament.

The annual tournament was arranged to help raise money for the Camacho and Flores families after the teams heard about the accident.

More teams signed up, donations were taken and vendors donated goods and gift cards for a silent auction.

Breanna Camacho, who died in the accident, was a member of one of the teams playing in the tournament. It was because she was part of the "softball family" that the league reached out.

"Breanna is actually part of our league family," said league president Carrie Cadena. "We saw a need and went after it."

In just 48 hours, the tournament raised well over $3000 dollars to help the families with medical and funeral expenses.
