Texas Man Killed in Callahan Co. Crash

A man died early Sunday morning after his truck went off the road in Callahan County.

Texas Department of Public Safety reports that 39-year-old Mikele Lyn Sandle of Cedar Creek, Texas was driving a 1999 Kenworth truck northbound on US Highway 283 just south of Baird early Sunday morning.

After failing to negotiate a curve, Sandle went through a guardrail, down an embankment and head-on into a tree at 6:50 a.m., according to DPS. He was pronounced dead at the scene just 30 minutes later.

Sandle was then taken to Abilene Professional Services.

He was wearing a seat belt.
