The Abilene High Eagles are sending 3 girls down to Austin next week. Junior Erin Walker is headed south in Girls singles.

Walker rolled her way through the Regional Tournament without losing a set, and she is undefeated so far in the Spring.

She went to State as a freshman in double. The event is different, but the experience from 2010 will help this year.

Walker said, "I think I am more excited to get to go than nervous. It'll be a little different because you don't really have anyone to depend on if your not playing your best, or whatever. It'll still be fun."

Eagles tennis coach Fred Scott added, "The first step is getting to the state tournament, so everybody there's gotta shot.  You feel better about some having an opportunity to win, and Erin's one of those. I think there's about 5 girls up there that are all pretty even. I think any of those 5 could be the state champion."

This is Walker's 1st trip to the State Tournament in singles. Her 1st match is Monday at 10:15 at the Lakeway World of Tennis.
