ABILENE -  The Abilene Christian Wildcats remain at No. 5 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region softball poll for the second straight week.

The Rambelles of Angelo State again are ranked No. 1 for the third time, and are followed by Central Oklahoma, which is playing as an independent during 2012, Emporia State (Kan.), and Missouri Western State, which leapfrogged the Wildcats last week for that position.

The Wildcats (2915, 15-11 LSC) enter their first postseason tournament since 2009 later this week when they face West Texas A&M in the quarterfinal round of the Lone Star Conference Championship. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m. ACU dropped from third to fifth place in the standings after losing four of their final five conference games, including two last week at Midwestern State.

The rest of this week's poll includes No. 6 and LSC Championship host Texas Woman's, No. 7  Southeastern Oklahoma, No. 8 West Texas A&M, No. 9 Tarleton State, and No. 10 St. Mary's.

The top eight teams in the regional poll at the end of the regular season will be invited to the NCAA regional tournament. ACU's last trip to the regional tournament came in 2009.
