A lot of people are displeased that the Texas primary elections will be so late this year.
Some, because they fear Texans' votes won't make much of a difference now. Others fear it'll dissuade people from voting.

In this week's Hear Me Out, Taylor County Republican Chairwoman Joy Ellinger gives her two cents on the issue.

"Like most Texans, I am upset that the primary this year has been moved to May 29th.
Yes, we won't have a lot of say  in who the Republican Presidential Nominee may be, however, please do not let this discourage you from voting.
Currently in Taylor County, we have over 99,000 people that are eligible to vote. However, only 72,000 people are registered to vote. I encourage you to please get out and get ready to vote. You have until April 30th to register and get ready to vote in May 29th's primary. Don't forget, we have local races, statewide races, and you can go ahead and vote on who you want your presidential nominee to be. Please, do not give up, remember that every vote matters. I encourage you to call the Taylor County Elections Office and get registered today.
