Emergency responders were called to the 1000 block of West Austin Avenue Thursday night just after 9:00 to a report of a one-vehicle accident.

According to police at the scene, a car traveling south on West Austin left the roadway, crashed through wooden posts on two billboards and a utility pole and came to rest in a nearby field.

Police said that the driver suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Rescuers cut away part of the top of the car to gain access to the interior of the vehicle.

The incident was still under investigation as of Thursday night. No other information was available.

Brownwood Police, Brownwood Fire Department, and Guardian EMS all responded to the scene.
