Wednesday at 8:35 p.m. a Brown County Sheriff's Sergeant was on patrol and made a welfare check on a vehicle which was parked with its hood up.
According to the report, Cody Shane Allred of Edna Hill, Texas said he was driving from Gustine to Early to visit a friend when he experienced car trouble. When asked the name of the friend, Allred could only remember his first name and said that he was going to help him.
Allred was acting suspicious so he was asked to empty his pockets. When he did the officer observed him throwing a pill bottle to the ground, the report states. After investigation, the sergeant found the pill bottle to contain small baggies of methamphetamine and determined that Allred was actually traveling to Early to sell methamphetamine to occupants of a residence in Early.
According to the report, Allred admitted to having snorted a long line of methamphetamine around 10:00 that morning, and a search of the vehicle found a glass smoking pipe with residue on it.
Allred was arrested and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty grade 1 less than 1 gram in a drug-free zone (due to the arrest being within 1000 ft. of the Blanket High School Stadium) and tampering with evidence.
