Spotlight on Kelly Campbell

By: Alex Hayes
Updated: April 27, 2012
This Friday, we're recognizing a Big Country woman who goes above and beyond in the classroom.

Meet Kelly Campbell. She was nominated by Tamara Wood, whose son is in Mrs. Campbell's class at Locust Elementary.

Wood had this to say about her son's teacher, "she goes above and beyond her job every day with all of her kids in there and you can tell that by the way they all adore her."

Wood's son Alex is five years old and suffers from severe autism, but that doesn't phase his teacher. According to Wood, even though Alex doesn't relate well to people, "you can see that he loves his miss Kelly."

Wood goes on to say that when her son is sick, Kelly is right there with them every step of the way.

"Any time Alex is sick or even just having a bad day she calls to check on him at home or to tell me how he is doing at school," explains Wood. "My husband and I can't thank her enough for making sure Alex has someone to be his voice for him when we aren't there."

Even though Alex will have to leave Mrs. Campbell's classroom this year, her memory and influence will surely stick with him for a very long time. From all of us at KTAB, thank you Kelly Campell for your hard work and big heart.
