APD: Man Allegedly Kicks in Door, Assaults Ex-Girlfriend

On Saturday night at approximately 11:35, Officer Patrick Sumrall was dispatched to a disturbance call at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Sherry Lane. During his investigation he contacted a male subject who had been involved in a verbal disturbance. Officer Sumrall learned that the subject had been recently warned not to return to the property. The man was arrested for criminal trespass.

On Sunday morning at approximately 3:40, officers were dispatched to an injured subject call at a residence in the 500 block of North Judge Ely Boulevard. Officer Jeff Farley arrived on-scene and learned that a female victim had been assaulted after alleging her ex-boyfriend kicked in her door to her residence. The victim refused to go to the hospital. She had apparent minor injuries. A case report for burglary with intent to commit assault was taken. This investigation continues.

On Monday morning at approximately 2:00, officers were dispatched to a disturbance call at a business in the 3900 block of South First Street. APD was advised that a suspect vehicle was involved and that a person in the vehicle was asking about drugs. Officer Damien Hutchinson located the suspect vehicle nearby and contacted the motorist in the 200 block of North Leggett for a traffic violation. A K-9 officer assisted in this traffic stop. During the investigation, the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. During the search of one of the male occupants, a white rock-like substance was located. It tested positive for cocaine. Drug paraphernalia was also located inside the vehicle. The male suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance; to wit cocaine.
