Snyder Police Investigating Friday Stabbing

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: April 30, 2012
Snyder police have located witnesses and are attempting to piece together an aggravated assault that occurred Friday night.

Police were dispatched to the intersection of 28th Street and Ave. Q at 11:25 p.m. on a report of several subjects beating a man. No one was around when police arrived, but officers located a 31-yearold man not far from the scene who had been assaulted.

Shortly thereafter, police received a call from Cogdell Memorial Hospital concerning a man with a stab wound. The 19-year-old stabbing victim had been taken by a private vehicle to the hospital.

The subject who was stabbed had a wound to the abdomen, while the other subject had facial injuries.

Both men were taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock. The stabbing victim was released from the hospital.

The man who suffered facial injuries has not yet been released.

Snyder Police Chief Terry Luecke said both men were originally uncooperative, and investigators today are compiling information from several witnesses to the aggravated assault.

"They initially told us that they did not remember what happened," Luecke said. Sgt. Dennis Young is leading the investigation.

Police are not releasing the names of the men involved in the assault because the case remains under investigation.
