Man Assaults 7-Eleven Clerk, Takes Money

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: April 30, 2012
Snyder police are investigating a strong-armed robbery at 7-Eleven just after midnight Saturday.

A total of five units were dispatched to the store -- located directly across the street from the law enforcement center -- at 12:27 a.m. Sunday on a report of a man shoving the female clerk to the ground and taking money from the register.

No weapon was used, but because an assault occurred during the commission of a theft, that enhanced the charges to robbery, said Snyder Police Chief Terry Luecke.

An undetermined amount of cash was taken and the clerk did not require medical attention.

Sgt. Dennis Young is investigating the case and reviewing video surveillance footage from the store.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall.
