Merkel police have called the death of a toddler over the weekend a tragic accident.

A 2-year-old boy died after his father accidentally backed over him with his pickup truck Saturday morning.

Officials say the boy was taken to Hendrick Medical Center where he died.

Authorities have ruled the incident an accident and no charges will be filed.

So far there are no plans for a funeral in Merkel, as officials say they believe the family plans on burying the boy in Mexico where they are originally from.
