Last year the Abilene High Eagles missed the playoffs by just one game. This year they coming storming into the playoffs, winners of five of their last six games, including three over the other three playoff teams in the district.

"We started getting hot the 2nd half of the year and it just came at the right time," said Abilene High Eagle Jared Jaques.

Jaques and his teammates said you can't just point to one thing that led to the turn around, it was really a number of things coming together at the right time.

"We just found ways to get key hits with two outs with men on base, and cleaned up our defense a lot" Jacques said.

Fellow Eagle, Taylor Peebles feels like the team found their focus at the perfect time.

"We focused up a lot better, that's what I think, that's my opinion," Taylor Peebles said. "We've also done a lot of good things, just making the routine plays and hitting the ball when we need to."

The Eagles will open the playoffs on Friday at home against Arlington Lamar.
